I actually managed to drag myself away from the coast last weekend and got extremely lucky with the conditions on my first attempt at woodland photography. After having my plans for four locations ruled because of tides, weather or firing range closures, I plumped for Puddletown Forest at about 6:30am on Sunday morning and headed out through the gloom and mist. It turns out you don’t need to be ready and setup 45 minutes before sunrise - it is pretty dark and spooky in the wood before sunrise.
Anyway, the mists were perfect and allowed just enough sunlight through to light the tree trunks and add atmosphere to the scene. Officially hooked on woodland photography now!
