LPOTY - Overall Winner 2020
October 18th 2020

Incredibly pleased, proud & grateful, and still somewhat shellshocked, to announce that my wild garlic image has been selected as the Overall Winner for this year’s Landscape Photographer of the Year competition (#LPOTY). I found out back in September and have been pinching myself ever since. It’s been a surreal few weeks especially as this year I’d made a number of photographic resolutions, for most of which I am failing miserably. However, one of those resolutions was to start entering competitions, with a further five-year goal of having an image selected for the LPOTY book, so winning this year has completely blown me away!

The image was shot in a woodland I stumbled on whilst searching high and low for bluebells around the backwaters of Dorset in spring 2018; looking for a scene a little different than the norm, I’d had minimal luck before uncovering this gem! It was an extremely memorable morning, and one that will stay with me forever with the winning of this year’s LPOTY competition, a feat that I am still struggling to get my head around!
